I know I really don’t say it much (or I probably do, but I feel like I should let you know more often), but you are one of the most amazing people I have met in my entire life. True, it’s cliché when people tell you that you’re amazing, because really, if that’s the case, then we’re all pretty much amazing.
But you are one heck of a kind.
It could be luck that we met, some people could say that. But it will always be fate for me. We met at the right, and let’s just say “normal”, time ever, you know, unlike those couples in Korean drama shows who meet each other for the first time, with all the drama, cue dramatic background music, background sparkles, etc, etc. Nope, we were a couple of no make-up no drama kids finding our way through life, and we felt so small, it was overwhelming. And right then and there, I was certain that we had each other’s backs for life.
And so, we did.
Life is amazing that way. Like I always tell people: in life, you will meet so many people along the way, and you lose most of them. They just pass by your life to teach you a lesson that you have to try to comprehend and learn, and then they leave. And that’s it. But there will be someone who’d stay for life, teaching you tiny lessons every single day, being patient with you no matter how stubborn you are or how annoying you get. It’s just that, they don’t have a choice but to be there no matter what.
You’re that person to me.
And I’m extremely grateful, I don’t even know how to actually put it into words (but I will try).
I’m grateful for your existence, for those times you tell me to follow my dreams even when nobody else believes in me, because you always believe. I’m grateful for our late night conversations, the times when we laugh just because we wanted to, even if nobody else understands. I’m grateful for the thoughts we share just by glancing at each other, the nods that lead to “okay’s” because we were thinking of the same thing. I’m grateful for the years we spent apart, because we learned that we can keep our friendship alive, even through the distance, and I’m grateful for all the times we spent together, even as frail little kids. I’m grateful for your patience and understanding, nobody else can ever do that with me (REALLY). I’m grateful for your love, for every single time you encourage me to do the things I’ve always been scared of doing, and you’d tell me I need to do them because I still have so much to learn in life.
I cannot imagine my life without you.
And despite the distance, we will always be the best of friends. Please know that you are a wonderful person, inside and out, and you deserve all the love and happiness the world can offer. Grabe ka, we’ve been friends for such a long time, and nothing’s really changed, we’re still those no make-up no drama kids finding our way through life (okay, a bit of makeup lang haha). I really wish I could be with you right now and celebrate your life with you. But I promise, we will celebrate all the birthdays we missed of each other one day. For now, have a great time. I will be celebrating with you by heart, a bajillion miles away. Happy birthday!
The world is a happy world because of you. And I love you every single day.
And so, to not make me want to cry and to make you want to cry a little (wahaha), here are a few photos of you (because, you know, I love you!!!!!!) Enjoy!
