Let’s do better this year, Fam!

I was writing down a few things on my planner yesterday, and thought of sharing some thoughts with you. Happy New Year, Fam! As I sit here right now, I realized that 2018 went by so fast, I feel like I’m getting out of breath just thinking about it. It was, by far, the quickest year, for me. And here’s 2019, quickly passing by.

I hope you had a wonderful time. This year, I know we’re all excited about a new chapter that we are about to start. Or… As this should be posted pretty late past the new year, the new chapter already started. I have a bunch of things I listed down, just in case I do try to accomplish them this year. We’re usually all so excited about making some resolutions for the year. The past couple of years, I have been firm with my “Fvck Resolutions” position, I wrote about it, had published everywhere, and it kind of became a thing. But this year, I am going along with the people around me, you know, for the added positivity that everyone needs. And so I am sharing with you a couple of things I have in mind.

I would really like to write more this year. I did write a lot in 2018 and in the past years, but I would like 2019 to just be a little bit more extra, if you know what I mean. I got new planners as well, which I would like to use more often. Last year, I only wrote on my planner until around June, and then I raised my white flag. I did try though, but circumstances arise, and we cannot really avoid, you know, circumstances. I wanted to give MarshMary up some time last year, but I decided not to. You know the drill, just write more in general.

I have been on the Keto (technically low carb) Diet since October 2018, and I would like to keep it low carb for the time being, if not completely Keto. I will talk about Keto some other time, but for now, there’s that. Filipinos eat rice all the friggin’ time, not that it’s a bad thing, but you know, CARBS. And I am all about avoiding sugar and carbs this year (and most probably, the next years to come). Just as Sir Dave, the founder of this Facebook group I am in called Low Carb and Intermittent Fasting Philippines (LCIP PH) says: “Sugar is bad, and carbs is sugar, therefore, carbs is bad.” ~ if you get the logic of it, because it does make sense to me. Anyway, we can talk about that some other time.

I would also very much like to keep on working out. Since starting low carb, I also started working out. It was great for the first couple of weeks for me. I was full of energy and I worked out everyday, even just for 30 minutes a day. The holidays got to me though, and I dropped the lowcarb bullshit for a bit to “celebrate”. I stopped working out, I ate my favorite cake (sansrival!!!!!), I had too much to drink, and even had pasta (because what is Christmas in the Philippines without pasta). Right now, I am trying to get back on track, but the exercise part is the most difficult for me. I have only actually worked out twice this year. But we’ll see where it goes.

The planners, I would very much like to keep. As much as I love sticky notes and stickers, I am not good with the planning part. I have never been artsy, I do not draw, I do not paint, I am a nurse with really bad penmanship. But I do write. So maybe that will save this resolution from going down the drain. I think writing on the planners, even without being too fancy, will be fine. I will do that. I have a shit ton of stickers to use, so that would be fun. My friend, Tam, and I, are going to be watching our finances because we want to save up this year. Gone are the days when we’d go to Starbucks three times a day for fancy frappes that are either too sweet or just bland. That would also be a reason why I think I might be able to keep up with all the planning. Oh, planners.

I almost forgot the thing that was supposed to be at the top of my list. Before the year 2018 ended, I was contemplating on what I need to really change in the coming year, what I had to learn as a routine, what I really need to keep in my life. And right then and there, I knew what I really needed to do more this year: self-care. I need to change my sleeping habits. I need an actual skincare routine and really stick to it. I need to do more things that would make me feel good, including reading the bible more often, writing on my planner more often, sticking to a healthier diet, things like those that actually make you feel like you’re caring for yourself. And that’s what I plan to do. Right now, I am failing at the sleeping habits part, but all else, we are good, Fam.

The year has been uneventful so far, but nevertheless, there can never be a bad time to be grateful. This year, let us keep our hearts and minds open for the awesome things that are yet to come. And best of all, let us keep on being grateful for whatever may come our way, be it good or bad. 2018 has been a mad rollercoaster for everyone, but hey, we’re here now, aren’t we? Let’s make the most of it and enjoy 2019!

What are your resolutions this year? Any new things you’d like to accomplish? See you around! ~ ❤
